Sir Geoff Hurst Admits Ball Didn’t Cross the Line.
Sir Geoff Hurst, the man who famously scored a hat-trick in England’s 1966 World Cup Final success, has today made the controversial statement that his second goal ‘did not cross the line’.
Speaking at a press conference to announce that he was teaming up with Blue Square the online sports betting site as they renew their sponsorship of the conference league – now to be called the Blue Square Bet Premier League – Geoff seemed to be easily caught out by the question.

Nice gimmick but the world already knows the goal should not have stood. That’s not it. Everybody outside England knows that Stanley Rous rigged world cup ’66. He got English refs to eliminate Brazil. Then it was the Argentina game having them play us with only ten men. Our goal was offside, shouldn’t have stood. Then Portugal were disallowed four goals in the semifinal against us, and Styles was allowed to kick the Portuguese. There were handballs in the box also, penalties for Portugal not called. World Cup 1966 was the swindle of the century, a total fraud, a complete robbery.
Scottish by any chance Kevin? I thought it was a very brave admission from Geoff but we won it fair and square!
What bad acting from the bluesq fellas. Total gimmick, good idea but badly executed – makes it into a bit of a mockery.
Geoff should be disappointed in himself for selling out just for this one statement.
I feel a little queasy after watching that.
Okay well done. 1st April….
Am shocked about Geoff but always suspected it . Good news about the sponsorship renewal – needs someone like BlueSquare to support grass roots football and I love the idea of £66 of free bets!
£66 of free bets – missed that bit – have just checked it out on the bluesq site and looks simple enough, worth trying them out
Just copied this from the webiste
Step 1) Open an account with Blue Square, deposit and place a win, single bet of £10 or more and Blue Square will then credit your account with your 1st free betting token worth £11.
Step 2) After you have redeemed your 1st free betting token, place 2 further win, single bets of £10 or more to get your 2nd free bet of worth £22.
Step 3) After you have redeemed your 2nd free betting token, place 3 further win, single bets of £10 or more to get a £22 free bet PLUS an £11 free bet for the World Cup winners market only.
Pretty simple if you’re into regular bets
Nice April Fools Scam – nearly fell for it – good try. I was there in 66 by the way.
that fat bugger on the right looks like he could suck the chocolate out of an eclair in 10 seconds.
